Internship Opportunity

Give Chances is a local educational non-profit organization in New Jersey that serves children and youth from low-income families by providing quality education. Through this internship, you will be able to gain experience in an organizational setting and bring differences in the lives of children and youth.

What is the Internship opportunity about?

This paid internship position will work closely with the staff and lead-teachers to facilitate the operation of the Joyful Learning Program and/or the Disability Support Program: DDartists. Daily duties will include supervising and tutoring students, preparing teaching materials, working with volunteer tutors and supporting various events. This position will provide an opportunity to work in the sector with highly experienced staff members. ​Depending on the location of the applicant, internship responsibilities may range from in-person and online duties.

What responsibilities do interns have?

  • Facilitate educational activities
  • Deliver teaching and tutoring to the learners between K-8 with the program team
  • Provide support to volunteer tutors
  • Assist staff in research and curriculum development
  • Support the preparation and execution of events and field trips

Qualifications :

  • Current undergraduates or above
  • Commitment to supporting children of low-income immigrants’ families
  • Desire to create quality out-of-school time programs
  • Energetic, positive, and self-motivated
  • Comfortable speaking in front of large and small groups
  • Flexible schedule
  • Highly collaborative
  • Ability to work as a team and independently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

This is a paid position and requires a minimum commitment of 6 months.

High School Internship Opportunity

This unpaid internship position is open to high school students who are interested in working with the staff to facilitate the operation of Give Chances’ programs. Daily duties include administration support, working with volunteer tutors and supporting events held by programs.

This internship will provide high school students an opportunity to work within an organization with the support of highly experienced staff members. ​

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to staff members and volunteer tutors
  • Assist staff in research and curriculum development
  • Support the preparation and execution of events and field trips

Qualifications:

  • Current high school students
  • Commitment to the community
  • Flexible schedule
  • Ability to work independently and as a team

This is an unpaid position and requires a minimum commitment of 6 months.
