Covid-19 100,000 Masks Donation
The Covid-19 pandemic has negatively impacted nearly everyone. It has especially endangered the lives of those on the front-lines. For example, hospitals across the country are running out of masks, gowns, and other equipment needed to protect both their staff and their patients from the novel corona virus. The pandemic has also left many families struggling to feed and provide for their families due to the scarcity of employment opportunities and the spread of job losses and wage cuts.
To support and protect these medical professionals, Give Chances has put together an urgent fund to supply 100,000 surgical masks to major hospitals in New York and New Jersey.
Give Chances has donated masks to:
- Pomona Valley Hospital
- Englewood Hospital
- Holy Name Medical Center
- Hackensack Hospital
- New Bridge Medical Health
- Borough of Palisades Park
- Buckingham Care and Rehabilitation Center
- Family Touch Sing Mom Group
- Fort Lee Office of Emergency Management
- Northwell Health
- NY Korean Nurse Association

Be the Hope to the Children: Subsidizing Rent
We recently gave out a survey to the parents and families of our Joyful Learning students. Our findings show that…
- There are rising concerns regarding rent payments
- More than ⅔ of the families can not receive stimulus checks
- Only one adult is working 2-3 times a week as a day laborer in more than ⅔ of the households surveyed
- 10 out of 14 families have not been able to afford to pay rent since March
Therefore, we have run a fundraiser called “Be the Hope to the Children.” Our goal was to partially subsidize one month’s rent for each of 10 families by distributing $500 to each of them. We have directly contacted each landlord and paid in the family’s name. With your donations, the families of Joyful Learning students did not have to worry about losing a place to stay in the midst of the economic and social crisis brought by the pandemic.
Give Chances Food Assistance Program: Supporting Low-Income Families Impacted by COVID-19
Low-income families in our community have been more and more disproportionately affected due to the current crisis brought by the Covid-19 pandemic. In fact, over the past few months since the outbreak of the coronavirus, nearly all of the parents have lost jobs, making food on the table scarce. Therefore, Give Chances aimed to raise enough money to support at least 15 households belonging to Give Chances students that have been significantly economically impacted.
Upon hearing about the hardships that families of Joyful Learning Children's program are facing, Give Chances’ sponsors supported these family members with groceries and other essential products.
Currently, we are providing grocery boxes to 20 families every week.
