A Fortunate Privilege of Tutoring Wonderful Kids: Jonathan Song (10th Grade, Palisades Park High School)

The virtual experience at Give Chances has been an interesting one to say the least. The experience of helping kids has definitely been a learning experience that has taught me as much as I help kids learn. The shift to virtual learning while a bit jarring at first, proved to be a very smooth transition. The students definitely cooperate better with the more isolated environment that helps them focus. It has been very helpful to study how these children take in their information and to find ways to better suite their preferred method of learning. Many students have proven to do their necessary requirements fairly quickly, showing much of their potential capabilities when put in the right situation. They continue to show the respect they gave me in person and are for the most part eager to continue their work. Ultimately, the ability to help these children has been a privilege that I am fortunate enough to have and as the months go by, I hope to help them through these difficult times as they continue to grow.
