Being a Mentor Figure During the Summer

Being a Mentor Figure During the Summer

An Interview with Daniel Kim, the Youth Mentor

My experience interacting with two Daniels for the last 6 weeks has been very unique. I was glad of being able to know more about them as individuals and be a mentor figure for them. The class wasn’t limited to simply teaching them grammar mechanics. Sometimes, I got to engage in casual conversations with them and talk about their dreams and interests. I think this opened us up more and made the class environment more comfortable yet still educative. Despite some struggles here and there, their passionate attitude was a blessing to my role as a tutor. It was my pleasure teaching these youngsters and hope to get to work with them again!
