[Give Chances] January Newsletter 1 "My High School Journey"

Chance Makers Seniors
Share Their High School Journey

Give Chances successfully concluded “My High School Journey,” an online mentoring session led by 12th-grade leaders from the Chance Makers Leadership Program. The session brought together nearly 60 middle school students preparing for high school and focused on addressing common concerns such as academic pressure, friendships, time management, and personal responsibility.

During the session, the 12th-grade leaders shared real experiences from their high school years, including how they balanced academics and activities, time management, and learning through challenges and setbacks. Their stories helped the younger students understand that high school is not defined by results alone, but by ongoing choices, progress, and personal growth.

Participants shared that the session helped them realize the importance of managing their own lives, not just focusing on grades, and reassured them that growing at their own pace is both acceptable and will lead to success.

The mentoring session was held during a time when college acceptance news from the Chance Makers 12th-grade leaders was being shared, making the conversation especially impactful. Our senior students noted that what resonated most was not the outcomes, but the journey and effort behind them.

Through this session, Give Chances expresses its sincere support and encouragement for the continued journeys and future paths of the Chance Makers 12th-grade leaders who guided and inspired younger students.
