[Give Chances] July Weekly Newsletter 2

Joyful Learning Summer Camp at the Parsippany Branch!

The weeklong Summer Camp at our Parsippany branch had its grand opening on July 10. A total of 16 students and 11 passionate volunteers have long waited for this to happen. The camp operates on 3 important focuses. First, to revisit the past year's school materials. Second, to prepare every student for the coming academic year. Third, to have fun and experience JOYFUL LEARNING! That is why the camp instilled a balance of focused study and fun. The camp held series of exciting outdoors activities, Taekwondo lessons, mini olympics, science experiments of slime making, homemade rocks, egg drop test, and volcanoes! And on the last day, the camp ended with a field trip to Liberty Science Museum.

Behind the scenes of our camp, many months and hours of preparations went into it. Once the idea and commitment to hold the camp was established. Soon afterwards, a total of 15 tutors started the planning and preparations for this camp in April. They met once a week to create specialized curriculums for each child. These curriculums were based off of conference meetings with the parents of the students. Which allowed us to provide specialized and personalized help for each child. One thing about our camp that sets us apart was our dedication in doing our best to make our camp free. From our lead teacher to our tutors, we understood the value of what a free week of camp would mean for our families in this area. Therefore, after much planning and a successful fundraising, we were able to hold our camp for free. At the end of the day, there were many challenges in our preparations for this camp, and in the weeks of running the camp, we were all very tired. But it was all worth it when one of the students told us, "This is the best camp ever! I want to come every day!" We hope to continue in our mission and journey in making an impact in our community of Parsippany. Even if it means one student at a time. Our dream is that every kid in our community will experience JOYFUL LEARNING.
