Robotics Workshop Lights Up Palisades Park

Where Imagination meets technology and learning turns into joy.

Last week at the Give Chances Palisades Park Branch, our creative STEAM program came to life through an energetic, hands-on Biomimicry Robotics Workshop. Designed and led by our exceptional high school volunteers, the workshop sparked imagination and excitement from start to finish.

During the workshop, students learned how principles from nature can influence modern engineering. They followed step-by-step instructions to assemble a remote-controlled snake robot—identifying parts, problem-solving, and building with focus. Seeing their robots come together gave them a sense of progress and accomplishment.

Our high school volunteers played a central role in guiding the workshop. They prepared instructional materials, supported each student through the building process, and created an encouraging learning environment. Their leadership reflects the heart of Give Chances: learning together and lifting each other up.

More than a robotics activity, the workshop highlighted what makes Give Chances unique—accessible learning, creativity, and supportive mentorship. Students left the session proud of their work, and families expressed appreciation for the thoughtful structure and depth of the program.
