Staying Connected During a Time of Separation

Although quarantine is in place, Give Chances didn’t take that as a sign to take a break from supporting the local community. In fact, the teachers, volunteers, parents, and students are all striving harder than ever before to stay well-educated and connected in a time like this. Everyone involved puts their best foot forward to tackle new challenges during this stressful time. Tutoring, one of the cornerstones of Give Chances, has seen some major changes our routine. Although all tutoring is done through an online platform, the quality of support hasn’t decreased at all. Students can ask as many questions as they like and since the volunteer tutors can focus on one or two children without anyone disturbing, the online platform creates a very productive environment for learning. The students can receive help while they face online school for the first time, and volunteers are still able to work alongside the students. Turning to an online environment for education presents many roadblocks, but Give Chances is dedicated to making sure those obstacles are handled well and to ensure that children at growing at this time.
