The Awarding Opportunity to Bond with Eager Students Olivia Hong (10th Grade, Academies at Englewood)
The experiences Give Chances, and the students provided me are truly memorable. At first, it took some effort to break into the kids’ shells and get to know each other. Once we did start forming a strong bond I was able to cater to each students’ needs and learn their strengths and weaknesses. I tried my best to explain material in easier ways with fun examples and teach them that learning is fun. The biggest rewards are when the student finally happily understands a concept. I also enjoy seeing them grow in academics as well as their character. I look forward to volunteer with the students greeting me with a cheerful, “Hi Mrs. Olivia!” and look forward to being able to see them safely in person again.
