An Eye-Opening Experience Jin Ryu (10th Grade, Paramus High School)
Overall, my experience at Give Chances has been nothing but positive. From the day I arrived, I was always greeted with children happy and eager to learn, and it’s been a pleasure of mine to see them grow and learn new things. Many people volunteer at programs just to receive hours but this program has been much more than scoring hours for me. A particular experience of mind stands out in that regard. The Christmas Toy Drive helped me understand that Give Chances is much more than just volunteer hours to go to college; it is an amazing cause that brings joy to children and helps them grow. I felt very touched seeing the faces of all the children filled with joy. Despite the cold weather, it was good to see that the students and their families were doing well. Seeing the joy of the students made this experience memorable.
