Bringing Happiness to Our Students
This year’s toy drive was an incredible success. Each student seemed so delighted to receive their gifts, and the payoff was in their huge smiles. Our volunteers seemed so happy to be able to see the students that they had missed all year. Rachelle, our intern said, "it felt surreal being able to say hi to them in person (socially distanced, of course) instead of through the screen. It felt especially nice to me because as an intern, I don’t tutor through Zoom as often anymore so any chance to see the students is rare. I know I won’t be here next year, but I hope something similar can run because I think the joy of the students was worth the long preparation." We would also like to express our gratitude to the parents who drove the volunteers around from house to house, patiently waiting for them to deliver everything. Jin, one of our volunteers who joined the toy drive also said, "I felt very touched seeing the faces of all the children filled with joy". Another volunteer, Deborah, said that she “had a great time delivering the toys. At first it was a bit chaotic because of the amount of gifts packed inside the car and searching for them at each house, however, as we continued going to the homes, the process became a lot smoother. Despite the cold weather, it was good to see that the students and their families were doing well. Seeing the joy of the students made this experience memorable.” All in all, the participants and the students of the toy drive seemed to enjoy this event as a chance to see each other again, and the spirit of the holiday season was passed around successfully. We thank everyone who has donated, participated, and wished Give Chances a memorable year. We know this success will carry into 2021!
