[Give Chances] July Newsletter 6

Over two sessions this summer, Give Chances students stepped into the world of real lab medicine—blood typing, tumor specimen grossing, neuroanatomy, forensic science, and more. Guided by student leader Dylan Taewoong Kang and Dr. Steven Kang, with support from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, students didn’t just learn about science—they did science.

For many, it was their first time touching a test tube, using a centrifuge, or holding a scalpel.

Give Chances is committed to making career exploration accessible and exciting for all youth—especially those who may not otherwise have these opportunities. Programs like NEXTPO show that middle school is not too early to spark a lifelong passion for science, medicine, and service.

We are proud of every student who stepped up with curiosity, courage, and excitement.
This is just the beginning!
