Through My Eyes: Artists Who Communicate With The World Through Their Art

Give Chances participated in a special exhibition held from June 6 to 29 at the Art House Production Gallery in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Titled “Through My Eyes,” the exhibition featured 14 artists, including artists with developmental disabilities, and delivered a profound message: “seeing the world through the eyes of artists with disabilities.”

In particular, the work of two artists - Seongbae Park and Junhan- have received great commendations from both art experts and the general public.

This exhibition was a moment where these artists were able to showcase their potential and not have their artwork be viewed as “art done by someone with a disability”. Their artworks captivated the attention of many visitors and their artistic depths were truly recognized.

In this exhibition, Give Chances’ artists shared the space naturally alongside other artists with disabilities. It was a meaningful platform where they were embraced and acknowledged as confident, creative individuals.

The greatest achievement of this exhibition was that it provided a stage for our artists to shine the brightest - not having their “disability” take the spotlight, but rather have the focus placed on their artworks.

CREATIVE Art Class: Where Young Artists Discover Confidence Through Creativity

In addition, this past June, Give Chances hosted a very special art class in collaboration with Grace and Peace Church.

Under the theme “CREATIVE – 4 Weeks to Become an Art Star!”, children from grades 1 through 6 gathered every Sunday afternoon to express themselves through art and discover their creative voices in a meaningful and joyful way.

But this wasn’t just a typical art class.

Guided by Sooa Lim, a professional artist and Parsons School of Design graduate, the children explored a variety of materials and learned how to express their emotions freely through imaginative storytelling and artistic expression.

Week by week, as their artworks came to life, the children grew not only in confidence but also in artistic sensitivity and creative thinking.

This peaceful time immersed in art — away from the pressures of school and daily routines — became a moment of pure, authentic learning experience for the children.
