When Creativity Builds Bridges: Where Inclusion, Friendship, and Art Come Together

About the Project:
“Justin’s Cookbook: Learn a Simple K-Food Recipe!” is more than just a cookbook — it’s a heartfelt collaboration celebrating inclusion, creativity, and friendship.

This project was brought to life by DD artist Justin Cho (17) and Chance Makers leadership members Eliana and Jamie, who spent a year volunteering alongside DD artists, building meaningful relationships rooted in kindness, patience, and understanding.

Through this journey, Eliana and Jamie became more than volunteers — they grew into true companions, learning to connect through art, empathy, and shared experiences.

Justin’s vibrant artwork brings beloved Korean dishes to life, Jamie shaped the story behind each page, and Eliana designed an experience that lets readers feel the warmth, flavor, and joy of the art.

The Heart of the Project: 
Together, they transformed creativity into a bridge — connecting people of different abilities and backgrounds. This collaboration embodies Give Chances' mission: to create opportunities, embrace diversity, and build a community where everyone belongs. 

About the Project:
“What happens when we see the world through someone else’s eyes?”

This question lies at the heart of The World Through Colored Glasses, a heartwarming children’s book created through Pageturners, a Give Chances initiative that brings together young volunteers and artists with developmental disabilities.

Collaboration:
DD artist Seojin Jeon and high school volunteer Haily Park worked together to bring this story to life. Seojin’s vivid, energetic paintings fill the pages with imagination, while Haily’s design and illustration expertise shape the artwork into a cohesive, meaningful story.

The Story:
In a small town, residents wear colored glasses — red, blue, green, yellow — each lens shaping how they see the world. When a mysterious girl named Ari walks by without any glasses, the townspeople begin to see the beauty and kindness they had missed.

This tale reminds us that sometimes, our invisible “glasses” of bias and judgment can cloud how we see others — and that true understanding and community begins when we take them off.

The Heart of the Project:
Pageturners empowers both DD artists and youth volunteers to build confidence, communication, and compassion through storytelling. This book is a shining example of how imagination meets inclusion.

Meet the Artists!

Justin Cho – DD artist, creative chef, and storyteller. His artwork brings Korean dishes to life with color and personality.

Eliana Lee & Jamie Kim – Chance Makers volunteers who grew into true companions through art, empathy, and collaboration.

Seojin Jeon – DD artist, storyteller, and dreamer. Her love for bright colors and bold brushstrokes inspires every page.

Haily Park – High school senior and creative leader. Through her art and design, she spreads kindness and joy.
