[Give Chances] When Art Meets Community: Joon Han's Park Ridge Art

Joon Han's Park Ridge Art

When Art Meets Community, It Becomes Something More

Joon Han, a young artist with developmental disabilities (DDArtists) from Give Chances, recently led the design of staff uniform T-shirts for the Japanese restaurant Yukihana in Park Ridge, New Jersey. This piece is more than just a T-shirt—it is a unique, community-based artwork featuring a hand-drawn map of Park Ridge with Yukihana at its center.

This project holds deeper meaning as it represents a transition beyond traditional exhibitions, bringing the work of a developmentally disabled artist into real-world business use.

Moving forward, Joon Han will continue collaborating with local businesses to create map-based uniforms, merchandise, and brand artwork that capture the stories and identity of each community.

Art does not have to remain in galleries—it can live within communities, among people, and in everyday life.

Give Chances looks forward to seeing these meaningful collaborations expand to more communities, allowing even more stories and possibilities to come to life.
